Messages on THE BEST are public, anonymous, permanent by default and attached to a national flag. That combination is exactly the one that goes wrong. This page sets out the rules, how we enforce them, and how to report something.
1. What you can post
A purchase of at least 10 Points unlocks a public message of up to 80 characters, plus an optional nickname of up to 24 characters. Messages appear in the live feed next to the flag of the country you backed.
2. What is not allowed
- Hate speech: attacking or demeaning people because of nationality, ethnicity, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or migration status. Backing your country is the point of the site; insulting another country’s people is not.
- Threats, incitement to violence, glorification of violence or of terrorism, and praise of atrocities or of the regimes that committed them.
- Harassment of an identifiable person, and doxxing — publishing or hinting at someone’s address, phone number, workplace or other personal data.
- Sexual content, and any content involving the sexualisation of minors. Content of the latter kind is reported to the competent authorities.
- Links, handles, invitations, phone numbers and email addresses of any kind. Not because they are always harmful, but because an 80-character anonymous field attached to a payment is a recruitment and scam vector and nothing else.
- Spam, advertising, repeated identical messages and coordinated flooding.
- Impersonation of a person, an institution, a government or a public figure.
- Content that infringes someone else’s copyright or trade mark.
- Anything unlawful under the law of España or under the law where you are.
3. How enforcement works
Automated screening, before you pay. Every message is screened by an automated filter that normalises accents, leetspeak and repeated characters, and matches against a multilingual list of prohibited terms plus patterns for links and contact details. This happens before the purchase is processed: if the filter rejects your message, the whole purchase stops, nothing is charged, no Points are credited, and you can edit the message and try again. Nobody pays to be refused.
We are telling you this because it matters: the filter is imperfect in both directions. It rejects some legitimate messages, and it will let through insults in languages it does not cover. It is a floor, not a guarantee, and it is why the reporting mechanism below exists.
Community reporting. Any visitor can flag a published message. One flag per visitor per message. Three independent flags hide the message from the feed automatically, pending review.
Manual review and kill switch. We review reported content and may remove any message at our discretion. We can also disable all messages site-wide without touching the ranking, and we will use that switch rather than let the feed become a liability.
4. Reporting illegal content
Anyone — you do not need to have used the service — can notify us of content they consider illegal, by writing to info@thebestcountry.lol. To let us act quickly, please include:
- enough detail to locate the message: the text, the country it is attached to, and roughly when you saw it;
- an explanation of why you consider it illegal, and under which law;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the information in your notice is accurate and complete;
- your name and email, unless the notice concerns material involving child sexual abuse or another offence where you prefer to stay anonymous.
We confirm receipt without undue delay, decide in a diligent, non-arbitrary and objective way, and tell you the outcome and how to challenge it. Notices that are manifestly unfounded and repeated may be deprioritised after we warn you.
5. Reasons for removal, and appeals
Messages are anonymous: there is no account and no email address, so we usually have no way to notify the author individually of a removal and the reasons for it. Where the author has given us a way to reach them, we do. In every case, the grounds on which we remove content are exactly the ones published on this page.
If your message was removed or hidden and you believe that was wrong, write to info@thebestcountry.lol with the message text and the approximate date. We review the decision ourselves — we do not leave it to the automated filter — and we reply as soon as we can. If we were wrong, we restore the message.
6. Repeat abuse
We may block future purchases and messages from a source that repeatedly posts manifestly illegal content, after a warning where a warning is appropriate.
7. Contact point
Our single point of contact for users, and for authorities of Member States, the Commission and the Board under the Digital Services Act, is info@thebestcountry.lol. Communications are accepted in English and Spanish.
We do not carry out general monitoring of content and are under no obligation to do so. Screening a message before publication does not make us the author of anything a user writes.
8. What happens to your Points
The two cases are different, and the difference is the moment of payment.
- Rejected before publication: the purchase never completes. Nothing is charged and no Points are credited. Fix the message and buy again.
- Hidden or removed after publication, by reports or by us: the Points stay on the ranking. They bought a position, not publication — the message was a free add-on. That is why a removal is not a refund event.
